Video: See Janine Tugonon's reaction when she sees her photos chosen for the Nu Muse calendar

A month ago, we reported that the Nu Muses nude high-fashion calendar Miss Universe 2012 1st runner-up Janine Tugonon appears in was already on sale, with the calendar officially being launched at the Art Basel art fair in Miami, Florida last December 2. Well, Janine was at the event and you can watch her reaction when she first sees the photos selected to appear in the calendar in the video below.

Sebastien Ogier proves us wrong; signs with M-Sport instead of Toyota Gazoo Racing for 217 WRC season

Back in November, we predicted that four-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier, together with co-driver Julien Ingrassia, will go with Toyota Gazoo Racing for the 2017 WRC season following Volkswagen's departure from the sport. Well, Ogier has proven us wrong by signing with M-Sport instead.

Joining Ogier at M-Sport will be Ott Tanak who drove for the DMACK outfit this season. Although both drivers are new to the team, Tanak will have a slight advantage, having driven a similar Ford Fiesta used by M-Sport since 2011. Both drivers though will be on the same playing field if M-Sport will be using the all-new Ford Fiesta which is scheduled to go on sale sometime next year.

Ogier though has his work cut out for him since he only has 39 days to prepare for the start of the 2017 season with the Rallye Monte-Carlo which is scheduled on January 20.

"There will be a lot of new things this season, but I am definitely looking forward to it." said Ogier. "We have a new generation of world rally cars, and a new team--it's certainly an exciting time."

Understandably, M-Sport Managing Director Malcolm Wilson couldn't hide his elation with Ogier joining his team.

"We go to Rallye Monte-Carlo with the number one on the door of the Ford Fiesta WRC and the strongest driver line-up we have had in years," Wilson exclaimed. "To say we're excited about next season is an understatement. We believe that we have produced an exceptional car, and we are in the best possible position ahead of this exciting new era."

So, do you think Ogier made the right choice by joining M-Sport instead of Toyota Gazoo Racing?

Recently-crowned 2016 Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg retires less than a week after winning the title

It hasn't been a week since Mercedes AMG Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg was crowned as the 2016 World Champion at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix yet the German has officially announced his retirement from the sport.

Rosberg announced his retirement just before he was handed the Drivers' Championship Trophy in Vienna, Austria, saying that the title it has always been his "target."

"And now I’ve made it...so this feels right," Rosberg added.

"When I won the race in Suzuka, from the moment when the destiny of the title was in my own hands, the big pressure started and I began to think about ending my racing career if I became World Champion," revealed Rosberg. "On Sunday morning in Abu Dhabi, I knew that it could be my last race and that feeling cleared my head before the start. I wanted to enjoy every part of the experience, knowing it might be the last time… and then the lights went out and I had the most intense 55 laps of my life. I took my decision on Monday evening. After reflecting for a day, the first people I told were Vivian (Rosberg's wife) and Georg (Nolte, from Nico’s management team), followed by Toto (Wolff, Mercedes AMG Formula 1 chief)."

Rosberg joined the Formula 1 circus in 2005 with the Williams F1 outfit as its test driver before he was elevated into a race seat a year later with the dismissal of Antonio Pizzonia. After four seasons with the team capped by a 7th place finish at the end of the 2009 season, Rosberg was drafted by the then-new Mercedes AMG team as its first driver, 55 years after the German carmaker left the sport at the end of the 1955 season.

Despite being partnered with seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, Rosberg outclassed his more experienced teammate for the next three seasons. It was with Lewis Hamilton's entry into the team following Schumacher's departure after the 2012 season that things suddenly became tense between the the two drivers. Rivals in the junior formula series in their younger years, Rosberg and Hamilton were closely matched for the next three seasons from 2013 to 2015 though it was always the latter that came out on top at the end. For the 2016 season, although Hamilton won 10 races as opposed to Rosberg's nine, the latter only had one retirement compared to the former's two. Though Hamilton looked to finish the season on top with four successive first-place finishes, Rosberg only needed to complete the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a podium finish. And with Rosberg's second-place finish, the German took the crown by finishing the season five points ahead of Hamilton.

"This is a brave decision by Nico and testament to the strength of his character," Wolff said of Rosberg's retirement. "Since 2010, he has poured competitive energy into our team and we have grown stronger because of it. We simply say ‘thank you’ for the incredible contribution he has made to our success, alongside two of the all-time great drivers, Michael and Lewis."

Rosberg has competed in a total of 206 Grands Prix and won 23 of them, placing him on equal footing with Nelson Piquet as 12th on the all-time list. He also has 30 pole positions in his name, putting him as 8th on the all-time list. On a more auspicous note for the German Formula 1 team, Rosberg is the first German driver to win a Formula 1 World Championship at the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow. As the son of 1982 Formula 1 World Champion Keke Rosberg, Nico is the second son of a former world champion to win the title himself, following Damon Hill, son of two-time champ Graham Hill, in 1996.

Congratulations, Nico, and good luck on whatever you plan to do next.

#FaptasticFriday FHM Philippines wraps up 2016 with Ellen Adarna double cover!

I'll be honest, FHM Philippines' November 2016 issue was largely forgettable. Who were those two covergirls again? Well, it's a good thing that the publication is making up for this by featuring two-time covergirl and perennial crush ng bayan Ellen Adarna on the cover for the third time! And a double cover at that, much like her second appearance on the magazine's cover nearly five years ago in January 2012!

Shot in and around Zambawood, a luxurious beach resort in San Narciso, Zambales, Adarna is featured in various stages of undress, in real life or clever Photoshop notwithstanding. Also, it's nice that FHM.com.ph has posted online a few photos of Ellen from the shoot in a large 1200x1800 format. If you've looked through some of the online galleries the publication posted before, you know that they're quite small so seeing a couple of large ones--with Ellen, no less--is very much welcome indeed.

On her Instagram page, Ellen has also been generous enough to share with her followers some behind-the-scene snaps from the shoot, from a fainting spell she succumbed to during the shoot...

...to her baring her (not-so) flat ass and inviting her haters to kiss it.

Oh Ellen.  You'r really the gift that keeps on giving.

You can now customize your own adidas sneaker!

Adidas has taken a page off of Nike's playbook as the German sneaker brand has introduced its mi adidas customization program.

Just like Nike's NikeiD, the mi adidas program will allow you to design your own shoes and clothes from the company's huge selection of gears, from soccer jerseys (limited to adding your name and number though) and old-school sneakers like the Superstar and Stan Smith to future classics like the Tubular and Pure Boost ZG. You can even customize the Adilette Custom Slides sandals!

Understandably, there are some catches to customizing your own shoes. For one thing, you can't return it simply because it doesn't fit so it's best that you go to an adidas store, try out the sneaker model that you want to customize, and take note which size fits you best so that when you go back online to design your pair, you'd know which size to pick.

Another catch is that you'll have to wait three to four weeks for FedEx to deliver your bespoke pair of sneakers and that someone has to be at the designated shipping address to sign off on the delivery. Oh, and for now, the mi adidas program is only available for customers in the United States so you'll have to have it shipped to someone you know in the US.

And then there's this:

"You are kindly requested not to use, upload, submit, copy or otherwise make public any names, words or phrases which fall into any of the categories below:

Include the name of a product, service, company, organization and/or event which belongs to someone else;

Include the name or nickname of a famous person (living or dead);

If used on your customized products will infringe or may infringe third party trademarks or other intellectual property rights;

Are threatening, incite violence, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, inflammatory, sexually explicit or otherwise unlawful."

So no, you can't put the word "Nike" on the Stan Smith's sockliner or the Tubular's tongue loop. You can, however, use Grosby, Kaypee, Accel, and Peak though. Yes, we tried them and they work :D

Anyway, you can check out our customized EQT which will supposedly set us back by $135--the same price as a regular, run-off-the-mill EQT Super Sport Classic! So for the same price as a regular pair, you're actually getting one that may be uniquely yours, down to the lace jewel and tips.

We also customized an OG adidas classic, the low-top Superstar, which would cost $108, just $3 more than a regular low-top Superstar...

...and a D Lillard 2 for $145, or $40 more than the regular ones.

You can play around with the mi adidas configurator at www.adidas.com/us/customize. Enjoy!

Where is Sebastien Ogier headed for the 2017 WRC season?

Before the 2016 World Rally Championship season ended on November 20 with the Rally Australia, Volkswagen Motorsport announced on November 2 that it was pulling out of the racing series, citing a realignment of the Volkswagen brand's motorsport program's focus "on new technologies and customer sport."

In the four years of Volkswagen's participation in the WRC, the team and driver Sebastien Ogier captured both the Constructors' and Drivers' titles, respectively, from the 2013 to the recently-concluded 2016 season. So with the German carmaker's departure from the series, Ogier is now a driver without a race seat--at least for now--and with the 2017 season scheduled to start on January 20 at Rallye Monte Carlo, that means Ogier has less than two months to find a new team.

Fortunately, with four Drivers' titles under his belt, Ogier has the freedom to choose which team he'll join for 2017 as he tries for his fifth straight championship and according to WRC.com, the Frenchman recently tested with two teams.

Following the Rally Australia, Ogier supposedly flew to Spain to test the Toyota Yaris WRC, with Toyota Gazoo Racing team boss--and four-time WRC champion--Tommi Makkinen confirming that Ogier drove Toyota's 2017-spec car on both gravel and asphalt.

Ogier then supposedly flew to the United Kingdom to test the M-Sport team's Ford Fiesta RS WRC at the Walters Arena rally complex in Wales.

Where Ogier will go is anyone's guess for now but we're predicting he'll sign with Toyota. While M-Sport's participation in the WRC for the past 11 seasons means it has its experience going for it, Toyota has both the pedigree--12 years, including three Constructors' titles--and Makkinen's experience. That the Toyota Gazoo Racing team is essentially a works outfit for Toyota means Ogier can expect the support of the world's largest car manufacturer.

So, while we wait for Ogier to announce with whom he'll be driving for next season, check out a video of him supposedly testing the Toyota Yaris WRC car below.

The Instant Pancit Canton Duel: Lucky Me vs Payless

Back in September, FHM.com.ph came out with the story "Instant Pancit Canton Wars: Which Noodles Did We Go Gaga Over?," which pitted three instant pancit canton brands against one another, namely Lucky Me!, Nissin Yakisoba and Payless. Citing its "value for money," the Payless Xtra Big was named by FHM.com.ph as its winner.

Now, here's the thing: I disagree with the result. I like to think of myself as an instant pancit canton connoisseur because it happens to be my midnight snack of choice whenever I'm writing something--like right now, as I write this--and since I've tried all three brands and their different flavors, I feel that I need to chime in with my opinion.

First off, I have a disclaimer: I don't completely follow the instructions at the back of the packages when I cook my instant pancit canton because I find that cooking the noodles in boiling water makes them soft and soggy, even for the scant three minutes or so stated on the pack. Personally, I prefer the noodles to be firm to add some texture as I slurp them down. Instead, once I see that the required amount of water is boiling, I quickly place the noodles in the pot, put the cover on it, and turn off the stove. I then occasionally stir the noodles so that it uniformly gets cooked in the hot water before I strain them out of the pot. I then immediately wash the noodles down with tap water to cool them and stop the cooking process and toss the noodles around in the strainer to remove as much of the water as possible before I put them in the bowl where I pre-mixed the included flavor powder, soy sauce, and oil while the noodles were being cooked.

So, now that I've cleared that up, here my opinion on both the Lucky Me! Instant Pancit Canton Big and the Payless Pancit Canton Xtra Big.

Lucky Me! Instant Pancit Canton Big

There's a reason why Lucky Me! Instant Pancit Canton is the leading brand and that's because it tastes good. The packaging may have grown from the old 60g pack to the current 80g but that's a good thing because before that happened, I always had to cook two--sometimes even three!--packs just to sate my hunger. With the bigger packaging though, I'm back down to one pack... unless I'm really hungry.

What's nice about Lucky Me!'s noodles is that they're thick and flat which further enhances the texture I get by cooking them my way. And while FHM.com.ph laments that the sauce pack remains the same size--can someone from Lucky Me! care to confirm or deny this???--it's a problem that's easily remedied by adding half a teaspoon or more of soy sauce from your pantry.

Payless Pancit Canton Xtra Big

At 130g, the Payless Pancit Canton Xtra Big is almost twice the size of Lucky Me!'s but that's about the only thing it has going for it. Also, the oil in the sauce pack seems to be frozen solid every time I open up a pack which is completely opposite from the one in Lucky Me!.

As for the noodles, they're on the thin side so you'll have to shovel more into your mouth to taste more of the flavor, and at 130g, it's no surprise that you'll find yourself full in the end.

The Verdict:

Despite its smaller size, or perhaps because of it, my choice is the  Lucky Me! Instant Pancit Canton Big. Sorry but FHM.com.ph's argument that Payless wins because of its "value for money" is a sad and sorry one.

As a colleague once put it, there are two ways to be satisfied by food: you feel good because you ate a lot or you feel good because the food tastes really good. The Payless Pancit Canton Xtra Big is the former; you're battered to submission because you're eating 130g of noodles, not to mention that the flavor is on the bland side. On the other hand, Lucky Me! is the latter because the soy sauce and flavor powder combo is great with the right touch of saltiness, plus the thicker noodles is the perfect medium to transport the said flavor onto your palate.

Perhaps I'll update this next time by adding the Nissin Yakisoba. So until then...

Daiana Meneses wants to "Count to 10" with you!

Have you ever wanted to learn to count using a foreign language, like Portuguese for example? Well, Brazilipina model Daiana Menezes has come up with a sexy/naughty video that teaches us how to count the numbers 1 to 10 in English, Tagalog/Filipino, and Portuguese.

A photo posted by ⠀⠀⠀Daiana Menezes BRAZILIPINA™ (@daianamenezes_) on

In a YouTube video titled "Mag Count to 10 na tayo!," Daiana does exactly that, teaching the viewers to count from 1 to 10 first in English and then in Tagalog before finally concluding it in Portuguese which is the language used in her home country of Brazil.

Now, we say the video is sexy because Daiana does the counting in a gym clad in different sexy outfits with some cleavage, sideboob and butt shots thrown into the mix. We also say it's naughty because the Tagalog-English phrase "Mag Count to 10 na tayo" can be translated into Filipino as "Let's have sex," or to be more explicit, "Let's fuck."

So, if you want to "Count to 10" with Daiana, watch the minute-and-a-half video below.

The Nu Muses 2017 nude calendar with Janine Tugonon is on sale now, and it costs over $20,000!

In October, it was reported that Filipina beauty queen and Miss Universe 2012 1st runner-up Janine Tugonon was selected to be one of 12 models to appear in the high-fashion Nu Muses 2017 nude calendar. Supposedly inspired the artistic nude calendars created by Pirelli in the 1970s, the Nu Muses calendar "is set to celebrate the forgotten art of the classic nude and capture the elegance and romance of the female form."

Well, the calendar is now available for pre-order in three variants.

The Deluxe Luxury Edition is indeed that since it contains 24 "archival fine art photographs" in a leather and linen handcrafted box that's mounted on a Lucite stand box "that echoes the undulating curves of the female body." Only 20 units will supposedly be made costing $20,000 each, with each volume being signed and numbered by the photographer, David Bellemere, to go with the certificate of authenticity. Also included with the package is an invitation to the Nu Muses calendar's launch event during the Art Basel art fair in Miami, Florida on December 2.

If that's too pricey for you, the limited-to-100 Premium Edition Box Set/Calendar has the same 24 photographs in a handcrafted, specially designed, hardback linen folio with each volume signed and numbered by Bellemere along with the certificate of authenticity. At $10,000, the package also includes behind-the-scenes video footage from the calendar shoot in the Dominican Republic.

Finally, for those hard up on cash, there's the Collector's Edition Box Set/Calendar that has 12 photographs in a handmade, specially designed, hardback linen folio and comes with a certificate of authenticity for $1,000 and limited to 1,000 examples.

Besides Janine, the other models in the calendar are Alejandra Guilmant (Mexico), Anna Wolf (United States), Ariela Oliveira (Brazil), Ebonee Davis (United States), Isabella Boemeke (Brazil), , Jessica Clements (United States), Keilani Asmus (Holland/Indonesia), Nidhi Sunil (India), Rachel Cook (United States), Sabina Karlsson (Sweden), and Vika Levina (Russia). It's sad though that two of our personal favorites that joined the casting call, Xian Mikol and Natalia LaLonde, failed to make the final cut.

Anyway, enjoy the photos of one of the Philippine's finest women below.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May can now guide you on Waze!

You read that right! Former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have lent their voices to the popular community-based traffic and navigation app Waze.

We're quite certain the addition of the trio's voices to Waze coincides with the debut of their new online motoring show The Grand Tour which debuted last November 18 and will be available for streaming weekly for the next 11 weeks on Amazon Prime.

While this would be the first time the trio would appear on a navigation app, Clarkson has previously lent his voice to GPS navigation equipment manufacturer TomTom for its Top Gear Edition car-based system in 2011. Unfortunately, after around 54,000 units with Clarkson's voice had already been shipped out to stores and went on sale, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), of which Clarkson was an employee of at that time, canceled the deal after it was discovered that it violated its editorial policy that prevents its hosts from endorsing "any product or service which could be covered in the programs on which they work." And since Top Gear is a motoring TV program which Clarkson hosted then...

We hope that Waze will make permanent the option of having the trio's voices as your guide since they could probably entertain you while you sit in traffic.

McLaren to make a new, limited edition three-seater hypercar--and it's already sold out!

Once upon a time, McLaren created a fairy tale of a supercar it called the McLaren F1, and one of its outstanding features was its three-seater design, with the driver sitting right in the middle while the two passengers sat just behind and to the left and right of the driver's seat. Well, the British carmaker has revealed that it is making the world's first "Hyper-GT" car and that it'll have a three-seat layout just like the legendary McLaren F1.

Codenamed BP23, which is short for Bespoke Project 2, the car will be produced by McLaren Special Operations with only 106 examples to be made--the same number of McLaren F1 units produced during its seven-year run from 1992 to 1999. And much like the F1, the BP23 will be customized to the owners specifications. The BP23 will also have dihedral doors like the F1 and all of McLaren's cars although for the first time, the ones on the car will be powered with apertures reportedly extending into the roof.

"BP23 will borrow the three seat layout with central driving position made famous by the iconic McLaren F1, and it will be housed in a streamlined, shrink-wrapped carbon-fiber body of great elegance," said McLaren Automotive Chief Executive Officer Mike Flewitt. "We are calling BP23 a 'Hyper-GT' because it's a car designed for longer journeys but with the high levels of performance and driver engagement expected of any McLaren.  A hybrid powertrain will make it one of the most powerful McLarens yet created but the car will also deliver the highest levels of refinement, enabling significant journeys to be undertaken with up to three people aboard."

BMW Films is back with "The Escape"

Back in September, BMW revealed that it was bringing back its The Hire series of short films this year to mark its 15th anniversary and that the latest one-off (so far, it seems) short will premiere on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (Monday, October 24, 2016 at 6 a.m. Philippine time) on BMWFilms.com.

Well, we've seen the latest short called The Escape and it remains faithful to the formula, combing action and drama while highlighting BMW products; in this case, it's the all-new BMW 5-Series G30, specifically the 540i M Sport variant.

Once again, Clive Owen reprises his role as The Driver and for this installment, he's been hired to ferry Lily, played by Dakota Fanning, who happens to be the the last living clone out of four that were created by Dr. Philips, played by Vera Farmiga, for a shady biogenetics company named Molecular Genetics or MolGen that has been cloning humans illegally. Accompanying Owen and Fanning is Jon Bernthal, who plays the head of a private security company hired by MolGen and is tasked with delivering Lily to an unidentified buyer.

Although The Escape manages to echo the excitement of the first two seasons of The Hire series, it feels forced, uninspired even. For one thing, director Neill Blomkamp doesn't have the visual style of Tony Scott or Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu or the flair for dramatic action like John Woo, three directors who worked on the series' first two seasons.
Perhaps if the third season had more than just one short film, the return run would feel more complete. As it is, it feels lacking.

As for the car, the 540i M Sport looks and sounds good onscreen, you'd think it was the new M5 although the conservative front bumper gives it away as just a standard 5-Series.

Anyway, check out The Escape below and see if you agree with me.

Press Release: Honda showcases dynamic capabilities of its SUV lineup at the Honda SUV Test Drive event

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda's automobile business unit in the Philippines, recently concluded the Honda SUV Test Drive in Tagaytay with its entire lineup of high-performance SUVs--the Honda HR-V, the Honda CR-V, the Honda Pilot, and, finally, the All-New Honda BR-V.

Amid the breathtaking view of Tagaytay Highlands, HCPI put its four SUVs to the test by allowing media participants to drive the vehicles through on-road, off-road, and customized tracks that simulate various road conditions. All four SUVs were driven on uphill and downhill runs through straight and winding roads to test their power, handling, and safety features.

Every part of the road course truly allowed the participants to experience every vehicle's dynamic driving performance, powerful engine, and effortless handling. The uphill and downhill drives demonstrated the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HSA) capabilities of all four SUVs that prevented the vehicles from skidding sideways during cornering, and rolling back on inclines.

The Honda HR-V 1.8 EL CVT proved its drivability and handling at every turn, conquering every curve and slope of Tagaytay Highlands, while providing comfort and space for its occupants. Its 1.8-liter powertrain portrayed powerful driving performance, producing a maximum power output of 141ps at 6,500 rpm and 172Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. This engine is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Honda's Earth Dreams Technology for optimal fuel efficiency.

Meanwhile, Honda's All-Wheel Drive (AWD) SUVs, the CR-V and the Pilot, were driven over rough roads with varying steepness levels to assess their performance and safety features. Honda’s SUV line-up provided utmost driver and passenger comfort in different road conditions as the participants traversed steep light mud trails and dirt hills with ease.

The Honda CR-V 2.4 SX AWD proved capable of delivering maximum power output of 185ps at 7,000 rpm. The CR-V allowed the media participants to experience comfort and safety in different driving conditions, which were further demonstrated through its Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), VSA, and HSA.

The All-New Honda Pilot 3.5 EX-L AWD showcased confident driving performance with its 3.5-liter Direct Injection i-VTEC V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) and 6-speed Automatic Transmission that delivers maximum power output of 284ps. The All-New Pilot also features a new Intelligent Variable Torque Management (i-VTM4), an All Wheel Drive system with torque-vectoring function that provides torque across the rear axle to aid cornering. This helps deliver more dynamic handling that provides effortless, efficient, and dynamic all-weather performance. This function is paired with the New Intelligent Traction Management system that offers four different All Wheel Drive modes (normal, snow, mud, and sand).

The highlight of the test drive was the recently launched All-New Honda BR-V, Honda's newest and the first-of-its kind seven-seater SUV in the country. The participants drove the All-New Honda BR-V 1.5 V Navi CVT on extensive laps across Tagaytay Highlands.  In terms of looks, the All-New BR-V 1.5 V Navi CVT held its own beside the rest of the Honda SUV lineup with its solid frame and masculine body. In terms of performance, the All-New BR-V equally impressed with its 1.5-liter engine mated with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). It powerfully drove steep uphill climbs carrying a full load, and effectively engaged the twists and turns of Tagaytay Highlands. The All-New BR-V proves to be a capable seven-seater SUV designed for long-distance adventures and cargo-hauling trips with the family.

HCPI is now accepting reservations for the All-New BR-V in all 34 Honda dealerships nationwide. Customer delivery will begin this December 2016.
