Top Gear's Reasonably Priced Car sold for over P1.2 million!

Top Gear has auctioned off its most recent Reasonably Priced Car, a five-door Vauxhall Astra hatchback for £17,800.00 (P1.239 million), just over a £1,000 difference from its current selling price which starts at £16,770 (P1.167 million).

The Vauxhall Astra served as the Reasonably Priced Car for the show's last three seasons. In its role in the show, the car is driven by the show's celebrity guests in its "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" segment to set his or her fastest lap around the Top Gear Test Track. During its time at the show, the Astra was driven by 24 celebrities with singer Olly Murs setting the quickest time at one minute, 44.6 seconds followed by actors Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Paul who both have a time of one minute, 44.7 seconds.

Auctioned off for Top Gear by BEN Motorsport Auction, the car was advertised as having the following:

"Front Corbeau Sprint Racing seats with 5 point safety belt harness and full roll-cage - as such inner door panels have been altered to accommodate, plus other modifications to fit the cage and seats. Air bags have been disabled again to allow for roll cage. This vehicle has been used on a track for the 2,908 miles it has covered. Bodywork in good condition however some minor marks from use."

The seller cautioned prospective buyers though that, in its current state, the vehicle is not road legal and that reconfiguring it back as one "would incur significant cost."

Do you think that's a fair price to pay considering the car's "pedigree"? We think especially when you consider that celebrities like Wolverine, Willow, Harley Quinn, Agent J, Sherlock Holmes, Agent Dana Scully, Tywin Lannister, Jack Bauer, and Loki have sat on the driver's seat.

On another note, Top Gear's disposing of the Vauxhall Astra means its totally revamping the TV show following the departure of Jeremy Clarkson followed by Richard Hammond, and James May earlier this year. Recently announced as the trios' replacement for the revitalized show, which is planned to air sometime in 2016, are Chris Evans (a British TV host, not Captain America), motoring scribe Chris Harris, former Nurburgring taxi driver Sabine Schmitz, and ex-Formula 1 driver David Coulthard.

A typical guy's guide to oral sex as taught by pornstars

One of the most important aspects of sex is foreplay. And as much as we guys would want to get into action right away, it's important that our female companion gets into the mood as well. So past the movie and dinner and whatever it is you do before you get into bed with your date/girlfriend/wife, it's vital that you get her hot and heavy for you, and that's where oral sex comes in.

So, with the help of pornstars Dana DeArmond, Annika Albrite, Skin Diamond, and Penny Pax, on the fine art of cunnilingus with the guys of Simple Pickup using oysters.

So, to sum that all up, you kiss them from the stomach down to the inner thigh before you hit the pussy, and then you give it long licks up and down, lightly tap it with your finger and slowly increase the tempo and pressure before you slip your finger in slowly. They also advise you to put some variation on how you lick a pussy, maybe suck the inner lip and compliment her on the taste of her vagina, give her some eye contact while you're going down on her, and most importantly, when she tells you not to stop and to keep going, DO EXACTLY THAT.

And Dana DeArmond looks hot, like Tita Hot.

#FaptasticFriday FHM Philippines' December 2015 cover girl Kim Domingo

#FaptasticFriday is back! We're sorry that we missed a couple of updates. Sadly, real life got in the way of things (read: Thanksgiving/Christmas parties to attend to) so we do apologize for that. To hopefully make up for it, our Honoree Hottie this #FaptasticFriday is FHM Philippines' December 2015 cover girl Kim Domingo.

We first noticed Kim as a model a couple of years ago at the Manila International Auto Show for the online game World of Tanks. With her mestiza looks and tight, lean body, she was impossible to miss--her and the throng of "professional photographers" that constantly milled around her taking her photos.

She has since become a staple in most car shows as well as any major event that needed pretty girls to hawk a client's wares. We'll have to dig up our archived photos of her but even then, we knew she was headed for bigger things.

If you want to know more about her, we suggest you buy the magazine. FHM.com.ph also shared a list of 20 things you might want to know about Kim so we suggest you check that out as well.

So, here's to you, Kim!

TrackingPoint precision-guided firearms make old-school snipers obsolete

Taya Kyle, a novice sharpshooter, recently beat Nation Rifle Association World Shooting Champion Bruce Piatt at the Inaugural American Sniper Shootout held in Mason, Texas thanks to TrackingPoint, a manufacturer of what it calls as "precision-guided firearms."

TrackingPoint's products are technically a combination of a special optic sight-equipped firearm that incorporates a computer which calculates the best firing solution based on factors such as wind and temperature. The system is supposedly so advance that, using a WiFi connection, a shooter can see what the scope sees without having to be directly behind the gun to shoot at the target.

For the competition, Kyle used TrackingPoint’s M600, M800, and XS1 precision-guide firearms while Piatt used the the M4A1, M110, and M2010 rifles. At the end of the competition, Kyle hit 100% of her shots while Piatt only made 58.6%.

"TrackingPoint precision-guided firearms are a stunning leap forward," Kyle said in a statement. "If our soldiers had TrackingPoint weapons, lives would be saved and the world would be a much safer place. Our first responders and military members face situations most of us cannot imagine. They need every advantage for precision and efficiency to protect and serve while minimizing collateral damage and risk to themselves."

Despite losing the contest, Piatt acknowledged how effective the TrackingPoint system is:"Just imagine if these were in the hands of our police and military units. I wish they were available when I was wearing a badge and coordinating the SWAT team."

If Taya Kyle's name sounds familiar, that's because she is the widow of Chris Kyle, the American Navy SEAL sniper who had 160 confirmed kills over four tours in Iraq and the subject of the 2014 film American Sniper directed by Clint Eastwood. In the movie,  Taya was portrayed by Sienna Miller.

Honda Cars Philippines ends 2015 by bringing in the updated Honda CR-Z

Honda Cars Philippines is ending 2015 with a different kind of silent night by previewing the updated Honda CR-Z a month ahead before it goes on sale officially in January 20165.

The refreshed CR-Z has a new front bumper with a blade-like front splitter that sweeps up from the center and the bottom of the eight-point polygon grille and then terminates at the front corners to form triangular fog light wells to give the hybrid coupe a wider stance. A similar treatment is given to the rear bumper with the blade-like design ending just above the reflectors. New 17-inch alloy wheels complete the exterior package by giving the car a handsome and aggressive stance.

As the CR-Z matured following its 2010 introduction globally, Honda has fitted it with what it calls an "Exciting Mature Cockpit" to enhance the comfort level of the Japanese carmaker's sporty offering. These include a new push-button start system, a seven-inch touchscreen entertainment system that also functions as a navigation screen and a display for the reverse camera, and an Electric Parking Brake (EPB) that "eliminates the traditional parking brake lever and offers easier push-button operation."

Completing the Honda CR-Z's new package is the Active Noise Control (ANC) and Active Sound Control (ASC) systems which makes use of the stereo speakers by enhancing engine sound depending on the situation.

Continuing to power the CR-Z is the 1.5-liter i-VTECengine that's mated to Honda's lightweight and compact Integrated Motor Assist Hybrid System (IMA). According to Honda, the combined drivetrain allows the CR-Z "to develop power and torque similar to higher displacement engines and gives customers a very unique fun to drive experience."

The new Honda CR-Z is available in five colors, including a new two-tone color option with black painted roof, door mirrors, and tailgate:
    Helios Yellow Pearl (2-Tone)
    Milano Red (2-Tone)
    Premium White Pearl (2-Tone)
    Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic
Polished Metal Metallic (Per order basis)
The price of the updated Honda CR-Z will be announced soon though all 33 Honda are now accepting pre-orders for it.

Even the Philippine Senate wants to investigate the Mitsubishi Montero Sport sudden unintended acceleration incidents

It seems the Philipine Senate wants to get in on the action on the Mitsubishi Montero Sport's sudden unintended acceleration (SUA) incidents as Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III has filed Senate Resolution No. 1671 which seeks to have the Senate Committee on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship conduct an inquiry on the matter "a policy of the State to protect the interests of consumers from trade malpractices and from substandard or hazardous."

In the resolution Pimentel filed, he noted instances where government officials personally experienced the SUA "phenomenon." In 2010, Rebecca Arambulo-Barbo, wife of former Eastern Samar governor and Senate secretary Lutgardo Barbo, was reportedly backing up her Montero Sport on the driveway in the family's house when it suddenly accelerated forward while on reverse gear, bumping the family's other car. On October 24 of this year, a member of Pimentel's staff, Casiano Flores Jr. was also backing up his Montero Sport from a restaurant when it quickly accelerated and crashed into a wall despite his stepping on the brakes, resulting in serious head injuries and fractures on his right leg. And then there's retired Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Engr. Bernardino Bernardo and his wife Avelina who, on November 10 of this year as well, experienced their Montero Sport speed up without the accelerator being stepped on, colliding with two motorcycles and a tricycle which were parked in front of the SUV in the process and a car on a vacant lot that Bernardo supposedly swerved to to avoid injuring people.

Although Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has repeatedly said that its own tests conducted from 2011 on units that allegedly experienced the problem did not yield a single manifestation of the SUA claims, Pimentel pointed out that several complaints on the issue still continue to surface.

According to Pimentel, it is Congress' responsibility "to determine if there is a need to enhance, modify, or amend existing legislation to guarantee that automotive units assembled and manufactured here, as well as the quality of spare parts imported, are at par with regional and global safety and performance standards."

Should the Senate really get involved in the issue as well or is it enough that the Department of Trade and Industry is already looking into it?

The Mazda MX-5 is Japan's 2015-2016 Car of the Year

The Mazda MX-5 has been named as the 2015-2016 Car of the Year Japan, succeeding the Mazda 2  which earned the honor for the 2014-2015 calendar.

The MX-5 is the sixth model in Mazda's current lineup to be equipped with the full range of the Japanese carmaker's SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY and KODO-Soul of Motion design. And just like its stablemates, the lightweight, two-seater, front-engine rear-wheel drive roadster is designed for pure driving fun. Weighing nearly the same as the first-generation MX-5, the all-new model is a true driver's car and yet is practical enough to be used as a daily driver with its weatherproof, easy-open-and-close soft top, and enough space in the trunk to fit two carry-on bags.

To be eligible for the 2015-2016 Car of the Year Japan award, a car must have an expected annual sales volume of over 500 units and should have been announced or launched in Japan between October 1, 2014 and October 31, 2015. The MX-5 is also the sixth Mazda vehicle to bag the Car of the Year Japan award.

"This result is thanks to everyone's enthusiastic support, and we are both grateful and proud that our Roadster has received such a prestigious award," Mazda President and CEO Masamichi Kogai said in a statement. "Inspired by this win, we will continue building cars that offer driving pleasure, aiming to become a 'one-and-only' for our customers that they will choose again and again."

Hyundai Philippines previews all-new Hyundai Elantra, to be launched first quarter of 2016

Hyundai Asia Resources (HARI), the authorized distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, has previewed the all-new Hyundai Elantra compact sedan to the media and its dealers at a Christmas party hosted by the company a few days ago.

To be launched in the first quarter of 2016, the Philippine market-spec'd Elantra will be available as three variants, with Top Gear Philippines sharing that prices start "at P828,000." These are the 1.6-liter E and S models with a six-speed manual and automatic transmision, respectively, and the 2.0-liter L model.

As we correctly predicted, we are indeed getting the 1.6-liter MPi Gamma engine which is, technically, carried over from the current-generation Elantra and is good for 130hp and 161Nm of torque. As for the 2.0-liter MPi Nu mill, it puts out 150hp and 192Nm of torque--figures that are slightly higher than that of the same displacement engine for the US market since it (the US-model Elantra) utilizes an Atkinson cycle form of internal combustion.

Externally, the design of the all-new Hyundai Elantra is like an evolution of the current model, owing largely to its "Fluidic Sculpture 2.0" design philosophy. The story though is much different inside since the dashboard has a more conventional design as opposed to the sweeping lines and curves of its predecessor's.

Can the all-new Hyundai Elantra replicate or even top the success of its predecessor or does it have a tough fight ahead of it in 2016? We'll find out in a few months' time once it officially goes on sale.

Honda Cars Philippines to bring in Honda BR-V, all-new Honda Civic in 2016

While most car brands in the Philippines are tight-lipped as to what vehicle models they will launch in the market for 2016, we've managed to find out not only what particular vehicles Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) will introduce locally next year but when we can expect them to reach the showrooms.

Scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of 2016 is the all-new Honda Civic. First unveiled in the United States in September, the sedan has reportedly already been spotted in Thailand last November. With our source's revelation that the all-new tenth-generation Civic is due to arrive in the second half of 2016, this means the current-gen Civic is now on its farewell tour. Our source added that interested clients have already been asking about the all-new Civic, with one supposedly even offering to make an on-the-spot down payment just to be sure that he will be the very first owner of the compact car in the country.

While the engine specifications for the ASEAN-market Civic has not been made public yet, the US domestic market model is available with either a 2.0-liter inline-four that has an output of 158hp and 187Nm of torque or a turbocharged 1.5-liter mill that puts out 174hp and 220Nm of torque. The European version of the next-generation Civic though comes with either a turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-liter VTEC powerplant that produces 127hp and 200Nm of torque or the same turbocharged 1.5-liter engine as the USDM model but, thanks to its higher 10.6:1 compression ratio, now puts out 201hp and 260Nm of torque.

The other new model HCPI is scheduled to bring in by the third quarter is the Honda BR-V, a subcompact crossover that's based on the Honda Mobilio MPV which, itself, is based on the Honda Brio subcompact hatchback. First unveiled as a concept at the Indonesia International Auto Show in August, the production-model BR-V was revealed only recently at the ongoing Bangkok Motor Expo in Thailand. Designed from the ground up as a seven-seater like the Mobilio, the BR-V also shares the same powertrain--a 1.5-liter i-VTEC inline-four engine that produces 117hp and 146Nm of torque through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

So, are you excited to see and hear Honda's new models for 2016 soon?

Waze now offers C-3PO as navigation voice guide

Waze users who happen to be Star Wars fans will certainly like the latest update offered by the popular community-based traffic and navigation app as it now offers C-3PO as their voice-guide.

Previously, the only way you could have Star Wars characters as your GPS navigation app voice guide was through TomTom which gave users the chance to have their daily commute guided by the voices of not just C-3PO but of Darth Vader, Yoda, and Han Solo as well! The catch though is that you have to pay £7.95 (around P560) for each one of the aforementioned voices. Good thing though that Waze has made it possible for us to have the voice of the film franchise's popular protocol droid for free as we make out way through the metro's streets.

As expected, Threepio uses some of his dialogues from the film franchise, like how he'll be "destroyed for sure" when he reports a hazard up ahead or how he shouldn't be believed when you'll be encountering a policeman soon because "he's just an interpreter." It's even funny when you've reached your destination--regardless if it's your office, workplace, or the mall--and he remarks how a "desolate place" it is.

You can also earn extra points through Waze's point system by driving through road goodies--which are depicted as stormtroopers, TIE fighters, lightsabers, and even R2-D2 and BB-8--that you'll find on the app's map.

Download it now so you can have Threepio guide you to the cinemas once Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits the cineplex near you in two weeks' time!

BPI, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance offers award-winning augmented reality driving safety app for new customers

BPI/MS, a joint venture of Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, is now offering an award-winning augmented reality driving safety app for its new customers.

Called "My Safe Drive," the app is based on the iOnRoad app, which reportedly won the Consumer Electronic Show Innovation Award in 2012, and utilizes the smartphone's GPS, gyroscope, and camera to monitor the vehicle's position on the road and alert drivers of lane departures and potential collisions through audio and visual alerts.

Using a Samsung Galaxy S5 provided by the company that's been pre-installed with the app, we drove a Honda Mobilio RS provided by Honda Cars Global City from Taguig all the way to Nuvali in Santa Rosa, Laguna to actually test the app in real-world driving situations and it actually does all that it promises--and more.

On the phone's screen, the green solid line indicates the lane ahead of your vehicle. If it detects a vehicle in front of you, the distance between your car and the one in front is indicated in meters in front of a green background. If the distance between the two vehicles goes below 11m, the background behind the indicator turns yellow. As the distance between the two vehicles become even closer, a yellow "Careful" full-screen alert appears onscreen and an audible warning is triggered. When the distance becomes dangerous enough that a collision between the two vehicles is possible, a red "Warning" full-screen alert is displayed and another audible warning is sounded to warn the driver.

The app can reportedly run in the background if you need to access your smartphone's other features like the phone function (of course!), the navigation system, and the music player. It can also serve as a blackbox of sorts as you can use your phone's camera to take photos or videos of the road ahead as you drive; perfect for capturing the shenanigans of jerks who share the road with you. We asked if it would be possible for the app to record as a video the last two minutes captured by the camera in case an accident or collision occurs and while it's not possible in the current version, the developers are supposedly working on such a feature for a future update.

At the end of a trip, the app assesses and scores how safe and fuel-efficient you are as a driver, with one point being given to you every second the vehicle is on the move and as much as 100 points being deducted every time the red "Warning" alert lights up.

For the app to work on your smartphone, the minimum requirements according to its developers are that it should run on either iOS 7 or Android 2.2 (Froyo), have a CPU speed of at least one GHz, a VGA video-capable camera, and an 800x480 screen resolution. As expected though, the app supposedly works best with the following gadgets:

  • iPhone 6S Plus;
  • iPhone 6S;
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5;
  • Samsung Galaxy S6; and
  • LG G4
As for the app's availability, BPI/MS is supposedly only making it available to new customers though it is also studying the possibility of offering it to current clients. You can also buy the app from the Google Play Store at just over P220.

"A car is one of the most significant investments a family can make, thus safe driving by using My Safe Drive helps protect the investment," said BPI/MS Insurance President Kenichi Tanabe in a statement. "The need for better road safety is imperative and the launch of the app empowers Filipinos to make their own contribution to promote safer driving."
