New Orleans Pelicans release Nate Robinson after only two games in the season

Well, that was quick. After only two weeks from being signed by the New Orleans Pelicans and after playing two games in the first week of the 2015-2016 National Basketball Association (NBA) season so far, the team has dropped journeyman point guard Nate Robinson from its roster.

In his two games - which were losses as well - for the Pelicans, Robinson averaged 2.0 assists and 0.5 steals, a little below his performance in four preseason games for the team where he averaged 8.8 points and 2.5 assists.

In the 10 years Robinson has played in the NBA, the league's three-time Slam Dunk champion has so far played in eight teams. Besides the Pelicans, Robinson has also played for the following:
  • New York Knicks (2005-2010)
  • Boston Celtics (2010-2011)
  • Oklahoma City Thunder (2011)
  • Golden State Warriors (2012)
  • Chicago Bulls (2012-2013)
  • Denver Nuggets (2013-2015)
  • Los Angeles Clippers (2015)
NBA.com didn't mention any particular reason why Robinson was waived by the Pelicans.

Such a sad way for this to happen to Robinson who's in the twilight of his playing years, especially when you think about the stellar performances he has put in for the Knicks and the Celtics.
